i am working on a guys 83 toyota 4x4 he tore it all down to the block to change the gasket then had a stroke and cannot drive anymore so 12 yrs later i am putting it all together and it is almost done except for the tranny. last year his father put a tranny and transfer case in but i am thinking its the wrong one because none of the shifter plates line up. then i have to find the right drive lines other than that it is all back together except for small stuff and the tranny hopfully i will get the old tranny out and the new tranny in by the weekend. the truck won't be driven much just around town but i have to make it run good and look good if only for professional pride. is there a difference between manual tranny lenth from year to year. we also cannot find the rear motor mount.:smile:

An 83 should have an L52 trans, 84 on would have a G5x series with a 22R engine or W5x with a 22RE engine. Lengths are different, as are the t-cases .
There are top shift cases and forward shift cases.

There was also G58 behind the 22RE on trucks with ADD.
