I'm trying to figure out which vsv to replace. The car runs fine finally, but it's cost me a small fortune. I've replaced the valve cover gaskets , plugs & wires, both oil control valves, the ECM and both knock sensors on my 2001 Avalon that has 210,000 miles!! Help I'm trying to get the CEL off. Like I said the car is no longer missing or losing power or idling rough. The gas cap appears to be pretty new and goes on properly.

Do some research on that code, there's plenty of info out there.
Could be the purge valve, vent valve, pressure sensor, any bad hose in the evap system...

You may need a shop smoke machine to find the problem since it could be a leak anywhere in system.
There are other codes specific to bad vsv/circuit wiring.
You could disconnect vsc connector to see if appropriate error code is thrown indicating electrically that vsv/circuit wiring is connected to the ECM

It's tough to troubleshoot this problem because the code doesn't tell you exactly what the problem is. I think the most common failure with this code is the charcoal canister right next to the gas tank under the car. You might start by changing the vent valve on the air filter housing first. Remove the V-Cover and check the fuel rail for cracked hoses. Some of them are part of the EVAP system.

The link Endzone3 listed is a good one. When checking the VCVs just listening for the "click" is not good enough to confirm it is working. Check, by blowing into one hose, whether or not the valve opens and closes 100%. I've had a number of them make a nice clear "click" but still fail the "blow test".
