I have some 3M paint protector film on the front part of the hood to protect against rock chips. However, I came across a film that supposed to be better called Xpel Ultimate. You can search toyotanation for others that used this product to see if it is better than 3M although 3M is suing them as of Jan 2016 probably because of their popularity. Alot of sports cars like porches, lambos etc use this stuff now. Some people put this on plastic headlights to eliminate chips and scratches and UV damage (the company sells a kit for this too).
