I have searched and found some threads. Our Bulbs are PARK and BRAKE lights.

My situation: I have park but no brake lights on both on PASS Side

Potential Failure Modes:

1. NG Fuse (where is this located)
2. NG Bulbs
3. NG Connection

Results of debugged issues:

• A post indicated that there were loose connections.
• Replaced Bulbs

No indication of a busted fuse in any of the resolved cases.

Your help is always appreciated.

Yes, I have been out for a while because the 2001 HL hardly have any issues…knock on wood.

Glad to be back though.

Check the main bulb socket where the plug connector from the car side attaches to one of the bulbs. It's prone to oxidation which stops the connection to the rest of the tail lamp. If you look closely on the bulb side (with the bulb out the socket) theres are small cooper tabs, I recall six of them, which have lumps. I've had to sand off the oxidation every few months when my tails would stop working.

I no longer have the HL but I also had the 2.4L bluestone metallic base model, glad to see it just wasn't me with the 4 banger.

Thank you, I have read so much about the brake lights’ issue in the last day or so and here’s my plan:

1. I will 1st check if my bulbs (both do not light up upon braking , the probability of both being bum is remote, but we will see). If both are bum, I will take the other side’s bulbs (Driver side) and test on the Pass side. If they light up, I will get 2 new bulbs and replace bum ones. If good, STOP.
2. If the bulbs are good, I will check on the connectors, clips, etc. on both the upper and lower bulbs, pass side. Clean, adjust and needed. Test. If good, STOP.
3. If they still do not light up, then I go to the GRAY wire on the reverse light and trace the connections, clean and make sure as this is the power source of the brake lights. Test, if pass, STOP. If Fail, commit hara-kiri!

Parking lights are the 4 corner lights that come on using the stalk just before turning headlights on.

"Running lights" are more commonly called daytime running lights.

Problem resolved!

Pulled both bulbs, added bulb grease. Adjusted prongs to engage more.

Pulled the REVERSE bulb holder, did the same.

Now working as designed.

Thanks.

Next stop:

A year ago I replaced the original dogbone mount with a DEA brand off Amazon.

Now I have to replace the dogbone engine mount. The DEA brand lasted a year only, torn to pieces.

>>>But ended up buying the same (I bought it and found out I bought it a year ago, too late). $50.

What is a decent brand and how much? I do not want to do this every year.

Thanks again.
