I have a 1998 Avalon XLS. The passenger side dash vent has come undone. There were pieces broken and so many of the adjustable slats would just sit closed. So I went to a junkyard to see if I could find a replacement. I did find one, but the junkyard guy broke his vent trying to get it out. He seemed to think that it would have required the removal of the dashboard to do this.

Is this the case? Is there no easy way to do this?

Also, I think they guy broke the only available vent in town (Fresno CA). So does anyone have an idea of where to pick one up? The junkyard was going to sell it to me for $25.

If it ends up being a dashboard removal - is this really complicated or not-as-hard-as-you'd-think?

I shattered my drivers side vent and bezel and it was $150 from my Toyota Dealership, as for the passenger one, it looks like your gonna have to take out your entire dash to get it out, and i'm guessing that would include messing with your passenger airbag. Not even worth it.
