I've had this issue now the past 2-3 months. I thought maybe the cold weather was causing the problem but now that it's been fairly warm the past month the popping hasn't really gone away.

It usually happens first thing in the morning or after the car has been sitting for a while and I back out of my driveway. As I drive over the approach and turn the wheels this is when the popping noise happens near the top part of the door it sounds. I'm assuming as the car is on an uneven tilt it's putting pressure on the door and since it may not be seated correctly in the jam it makes the noise. I've had it happen from time to time when I hit larger bumps in the road but that's very sporadic. I also get when I drive over train tracks since it's a bit bumpy obviously.

Anybody else have or heard of this issue? I'm guessing the door needs to be adjusted but are those adjustments available to seat the door properly. I thought I read another poster with the same issue with the passenger door but that may have been for wind noise or something but a search didn't answer my specific problem above.

Any help would be appreciated and thanks in advance,
Bubz

You might have been reading about mine. My passenger door sat a little "proud" of its frame which meant it wasn't drawn tight when closed. It would cause the door to "jiggle" while being driven and it finally took the Toyota field tech to hear the problem and for he and my dealer's foreman to fix it.

My door now sits slightly recessed in its opening but it doesn't "sizzle" anymore.

The TFT told me that they were seeing this in the new 2012 camrys coming out of Kentucky. The strike plate in the rear of the door jam is simply not installed properly.

May not be your problem but I'd certainly suggest it to Toyota or your dealer.
