So, I have a 2005 Toyota Camry XLE V6 3.0L and two weekends ago, I replaced my passenger side CV axle to fix a vibration problem that I was getting when accleratiing to 45MPH. It would go away at higher speeds. Now, I replaced the CV axle and the vibration is gone.

But I have a question. I bought the CV axle at O'Reilly's. Matched it up to my old CV axle, and it looked okay. Is the dust shield supposed to contact the transaxle housing? Because right now, there's a 1/2 inch gap between the shield lip and the housing.

When I installed the CV axle, I made sure that I pushed the center bearing in all the way into its carrier while sticking the shaft end into the transaxle. Can I lightly tap the shield towards the housing to make contact?

My car is also an 05 Camry V6 (1mzfe) engine, my driver side cv axle is making some noise and plan to replace soon. But the Passenger CV axle is still the oem Toyota Cv axle and I was wondering if I should leave this parts alone or replace it due to driver side will be new and passenger side is 17 years old and might be worn. Did you replace the cv axle seal and any problem to pop out the bearing on the cv axle bracket? Is the oem cv axle bearing bracket strong enough and won't crack if you press out and press inn the cv axle or recommend to buy new axle bearing bracket? Also oem cv axle have an donuts vibration dampers on driver and passenger side, aftermarket replacement doesn't have any an will cause any vibration while driving?

I did not replace the driver's side CV axle when I replaced the passenger side CV axle. When I was watching a particular Youtube video on replacing the passenger side CV axle, the video made no mention of replacing the shaft seal on that side. I found out that I should've done that after installing the new CV axle, but I lucked out because there were no leaks from the seal after installation (I know...dumb, but it was after the fact, and I really didn't want to pop out the axle all over again just to replace the seal. I've been keeping watch the passenger side CV axle and I haven't seen any leaks....YET. If it does start leaking, I'll replace it.)

As for getting the center bearing out, yeah, that was a pain. I spray-soaked the center bearing holder with PB Blaster and waited for a few minutes before using a hammer and a 2-foot steel rod to hammer out the axle. I didn't have to replace the bracket at all.

As for the aftermarket replacement I installed, it solved my vibration issue.
