Morning guys, :hi:

I thought I would create a post with a list of known performance mods. Sure you can pick through a few threads and find them yourself, but a quick and easy list in one thread for enthusiasts seems more convenient. So here are a couple I know for sure that I have seen:

I4/V6 Intake: http://www.knfilters.com/cold_air_intake/toyota_camry.aspx

For the I4, this 11' tc intake works too, just gotta make your own bracket:

I4 Header(Yes its a 11' tc header, but it bolts on perfectly):
http://www.weapon-r.com/products/2046-2011-13-2-5l-scion-tc-2011-scion-tc-race-header

I4 Exhaust System(not tested myself, but says its a compatible exhaust for 2012 camry):
http://www.proimporttuners.com/parts/2012-toyota/camry-megan-racing-oe-rs-exhaust.html?utm_source=googleproductsearch&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=product&gclid=CN6Cvvazq70CFYFhMgodEToA_g

CamrySE808 posted a vid of the exhaust sound here(scroll down to the link):

NST Crank Pulley(yes its 11' scion tc again, and can add an average of 7-10hp):

If anyone else has a performance mod they would like to mention, please reply and add it to this post. :)

Of course, must give credit where its due. Thank you CamrySE808 for this useful thread/information:

These are all for the 2AR-FE.

Weapon R Secret Weapon intake for the 12+ Camry. On another note, any intake from a TC2 will work.

Dezod headers, I plan to get the green headers sometime soon. They also make a red, decatted version. Any headers for a TC2 will work.

Unichip for the TC2 will work. Its easy to use and install. You get the most out of it after you install the other things. Credit goes to HercFE for mentioning this one.

you will need 2-4 spark plug non foulers to eliminate any chance of a CEL with a header. Dezod Green Header is catted, and will not cause CEL to illuminate.

I'm pretty sure I am the only one who has maxed out the bolt ons for the 2arfe engine gen7 camry here-NST pulley, intake, exhaust, unichip, header. In my experience the best bang for the buck is the pulley. The intake header and unichip combo are great as well, but you really need to do all 3 at once. The stock exhaust is perfectly fine for the amount of engine mods you can do. There is no gain to be made with just replacing the rear muffler-its actually quite well flowing. The center resonator and second cat are extremely restrictive, and are really the only thing that need replaced in the exhaust stream beyond the manifold/cat combo.

***It must be noted that the header WILL fit, BUT you absolutely MUST reuse the factory donut gasket and waller it out a bit on the inside to fit the header flange. Using the supplied gasket with the header-weapon r or Dezod, will cause a leak. This is because the angle of the bend where the TC s-pipe meets the header is just a few degrees different than the front pipe on the Camry.****

Replacing the front pipe with a one-off piece with high flow cat and straight through resonator is the best way around this-and best for power, as you can just add a piece of flex pipe to the replacement part in the front to avoid any issues with the angle being off.

I should also mention that the dezod and world racing/descendant turbo kits WILL bolt on to the camry directly. The tc boomslang EMS harness may or may not fit. That has yet to be determined-although there was talk around here a while ago about someone doing a turbo on their I4 gen7 camry. The auto-box in the gen 7 camry is similar to that in the 14 TC in terms of gearing, coding, and torque converter, so anything that fits the 14 tc will be safe enough to run on a gen 7 2arfe camry.

Furthermore, the U660e and U760e transmissions in 6 speed variation are some of the best FWD autoboxes on the planet. Both will handle upwards of 300wtq reliably before needing to be opened up.

I did some research on this and posted it all before, I believe the u660e and u760e are in the tm60 or tm80 transmission family, which are the same that handle the supercharged 2grfe in the euro/asian/aussie aurions with no modification and a factory warranty.

What else...the 2.7l crank from the highlander 1ar bolts right in, but will need shorter pistons to clear the valves for a 2.7l 2arfe stroker.

The piston tops on the 2arfxe hybrid are just a tad different and will provide a tad more power. direct bolt in.

JE has piston sets available in both high and low compression, with over and stock bore as well. stock bore is direct bolt in.

There are at least 2 camsets available for the tc that will bolt right in to the head, i believe from brian crower, or just crower cams, not sure if i remember which.

225 is about the max N/A whp achievable without stroking the motor on a 2arfe manual trans. with our trans, probbly 215-220 whp if you want to do 11.0:1 pistons and cams.

The factory rods in this motor will probably safely handle 450-500bhp before needing replaced-which is why no one makes rods for this motor. Chris Rado has done 700whp on a bone stock motor with a big turbo for several race-length trials with ZERO issues at all to the bottom end-so take that as you will for the reliability of the 2arfe.

This is probably the best engineered toyota 4cyl engine in the last 30 years-maybe the best engineered of any toyota engine.

There is absolutely no way to modify the acoustic intake, the dual vvti, or the intake tumblers, but i'm not sure any of that is necessary on a N/A car. If you want to turbo, I would probably suggest defeating the acoustic intake runner control valve by taking the vacuum supply away so the intake runner length remains constant under pressure.

I'm not sure what else I can add to this. There are mods to be done to this motor, just not many. There's not much power to be made, but when done right and with lighter wheels and tires, this car can be alarmingly quick for a 4 banger 3250lb sedan.

Best 0-60 for me is 6.13s on a glass flat road in maintenance mode. I think its pretty pointless to dyno this car, or take it to a dragstrip, but I have outrun an FRS to 100mph, so I would bet this car would do low 15s. Maybe a high 14 if the track was just a bit downhill. Not too shabby considering the v6 does 13.90s off the showroom floor.

will that crank pulley work on the v6?

I was looking for a CARB legal intake since K&N haven't got it yet. I also see you said 11' tc intake will fit? Is it like a direct swap? Also does it fit perfectly w/o the bracket?

the k&n for the tc won't fit quite right. I believe AEM has a CARB legal short ram that will fit the 11+ TC. That is what you want for your camry.

Although, I thought CARB numbers were given out based on the model car, so if you get caught with a CARB legal part from the wrong car, you'll get ticketed anyways. No point in buying a CARB legal unit if that's the case.
