Phone Setup

Hey Guys,

Just bought a Blackberry (8310) and I'm looking for mounting solutions. I've done some looking around and it seems my two options are Pro-Clip and Pro-Fit but I'm not really sure if there are others. From what I hear the Pro-Clip mount isn't that great because it pops the AC panel out and the Pro-Fit is flimsy and vibrates a lot. Just seeing if anybody has mounted a phone in the Taco.

Thanks!

http://www.bracketron.com
http://www.ram-mount.com

also google "phone car mount", see what ya get...
thanks tigger

the bracketron mount looks pretty sturdy

What I'm wondering is if anyone on the forums has mounted a Blackberry and been happy with the results.

I've been shopping around as well - I'm almost tempted to purchase the following from Crackberry.com, if I can't find them locally (in Alaska its slim pickin').

iGrip Universal Fit Vent Mount - Dual-clip ensures vent mount is tight and secure. Holder that looks and functions great. $19.95 $19.95

iGrip Universal Fit Flexible Mount - For windshield mounting, this one’s a winner with its strong suction cup, flexible aluminum neck, and holder that looks and functions great. $19.95 $19.95

Thanks for posting Henya - I'm anxious to see what people recommend...

something to take in consideration with vent mount holders is that your phone can "heat up" a lot in the winter time if blowing through the vents, that's why i went with the Bracketron mount.
I have the braketron mount for the Tacoma, but I have my XM receiver mounted to it. It is very sturdy, rock solid even when wheeling.

As for the Blackberry? It is usually just in my pocket and I use a bluetooth headset.
I ended up going with the Bracketron. Install was easy - its very sturdy - and like tigger said I don't have to worry about my phone heating up. Coupled with a Parrot bluetooth kit its a great setup.

I ended up getting the Bracketron vent mount, only because it fits perfectly and is out of my sight-line while driving. The vents on my 4Runner have an "open-shut" option, so I don't think that overheating is going to be an issue in the winter - esp. trying to start my truck at 10-degrees here in Alaska... There isn't much heat flowing at that point.

I was also thinking about getting the MOTOROKR bluetooth/FM transmitter... it clips to the visor. I have a friend who uses it in her SCION, and she loves it. The more "hands-free" the better!
i went with the bracketron mount, part number: TOY-203-05 and the ProClip holder, part number: 875214

the bracketron mount is real sturdy, no issues with it at all. the ProClip holder which attaches to the mount adjusts side to side from 2.3" to 3.2" (which i like cuz i can keep the skin on my iPhone) and it also rotates.
