Sweet. If I wouldn't have gone with the silver for ease of maintenance, that Indigo Ink Pearl would have been my next choice. It really is a beautiful color. I had a couple of dark vehicles and got tired of trying to keep them clean looking and I swore I'd never get another one. Btw, did you end up getting all the options you wanted? I seem to remember you had problems with "ordering" your truck just the way you wanted it and getting certain options in your area. So, what are you going to do to it first?

Hey thanks, guys. Appreciate the kind words.

Actually, silver was my first choice in color, as I have had dark colors and have gotten tired of maintaining them. But then the indigo ink started to grow on me. I decided that I would be happy with either, and so I just waited until the truck I wanted came on a local lot. It did and it just happened to have all the options I wanted. I sold my old Accord on a Saturday morning and bought this that afternoon. I got it for about $300 below invoice.

First thing I did was debadge the tailgate. I think the next thing is to tine the front windows so that they're about the same tint as the back ones.

I'd love to install that TRD Big-Brake kit, but it looks like a pricey option.

Maybe next I'll replace the factory speakers and add an amp, if it would make a big difference in sound quality, and if I can conceal it somewhere without it taking up too much space.

Give your brakes a try, my guess is yours came with the 4 piston calipers and the big 12.xx inch rotors. My truck stops better than I expected. The x runners and some of the other trucks got stuck with 10.XX inch rotors and single piston calipers.

But with yours being a TRD-OR like mine you probably got the better front brakes.

Edit: poor spelling/typos

Are those tires stock or did you change them yourself? Just wondering if the 06's came with different tires than that 05 dunlop garbage. I have the same ride just an 05. Nice truck but it is hard to keep clean.

Thanks again, guys. Well, I haven't yet had the opportunity to wash it. The photos were taken last week, and the truck is quite a bit dirtier this week. We're getting a light snow now, so I might get to try out the 4WD tonight.

I can tell it's going to take a bit of effort to keep clean...moreso than silver or white. On the other hand, I won't worry too much about this once I build up a nice coat of wax on there to protect the paint. I like to hand wash my trucks because they get so much cleaner than taking them to the car wash. I usually like to get a good coat of wax on right before winter, and again right before summer. I guess I'll have to wait for warm weather.

I am seriously thinking of pulling off the side badges now, along with the TRD decals. We'll see.

Oh yeah, the tires are stock BFG Rugged Trails. Whenever these wear out (which hopefully won't be anytime soon) I plan to replace them with a set of Revos.

i debated taking off the trd badges off my indago ink tacoma for awhile. I finally did, and it looks so much nicer. definitely recomend it. as far as keeping it clean, for some reason i've been lucky and had plenty of oppertunities to wash it. it has actually stayed pretty clean.

When I shaved my truck completely, minutes after I felt like shit. I was like WOW I should not have done it. It took a little bit to get used to the new look. Now I absolutely love it. I was just so used to seeing it with the stickers and emblems that it was hard to let go.

I think it looks much better than before and I have not seen a truck like mine around my area yet.

Debadging a.k.a. shaving the truck is LEGIT.

It just feels weird for the first days.

Hey Count, I thought I'd throw in my .02, if you want to go the cheap route w/ the factory stereo setup, you could just replace the speakers, and leave everything else stock. That's what I did, and it sounds 10 times better than the stock speakers. Nice looking ride BTW.

Great lookiing! That's another color I like but I have silver. I removed the TRD decal, cleaner look and easier to wash/wax the truck.

Fitz what kind of speakers did you go with when you got rid of your old ones? How hard was it to replace them? What wattage is the stock stereo? Just curious because I'd like to get some after market speakers but not sure if the stock deck can push them properly. Thanks

Thanks again, everybody.

Fitz, what kind of speakers did you go with? If they made that much difference, I may just do the same. Did you have to do any cutting or other modifying? Or did they fit right in where the old ones were? Did you replace all six speakers?

Looks good

Hope there's not too much of that Oklahoma red dirt blowing around these days, to mess up a nice wash job...wait a minute, now that I think about it, that dirt looks more like burnt orange. Hook 'em Horns!!! :D

If you want to get the Revos early (I love mine), there's a pretty good used tire market on Ebay. I'd bet you could get ~$250-$300 for the set BFGs without too much trouble - see http://search.ebay.com/BF-Goodrich-Rugged-Trail for current listings (check Completed Items too, to get an idea of what they've sold for in the past)

I bought my Revos through Discount Tire, and they matched the TireRack.com price of $119 each (265/75/16)

Most people go with components.

If you want to get coaxials I would go with JL Audio, MB Quart or Alpine.

Most people favor round speakers for the front rather than 6x9.

The setup would be 6.5 in the front and rears. If you go the NON-COMPONENT route you don't need to replace the stock tweeters. They will still work. You can also remove them if you want.

The speakers dont simply bolt on. You need a bracket to mount the speakers.
Tacotunes.com has everything you need the full kit.

I am planning to get 4 6.5 inch JL Speaks all around with the Tacotunes.com kit for $99 dollars.

I'm not Fitz, but I bought a set of the TacoTunes.com adapters for the front and rear (6.5" all the way around)

I have some Boston Acoustics 6.5" components that I'm going to put up front first, then may go with a smaller four channel amp and some mid-range drivers for the rear later (EU-700's?)

Right now I have that Alpine TV hooked up to the factory speakers and I think it sounds fine as hell. I can play the radio all the way up to 24 and it still sounds good, loud with bass and clear highs.

I adjusted the deck where I took most of the bass out and put the trebles high. It was a lot of work to get it sounding good. I really want to get door speakers just so it can be louder!!
