Agree on the poor performance of the vented seats, it was so bad I took it into the dealer and they checked it out and said everything was working correctly.
2016 Highlander was better...and the 2020 Hyundai Palisade Limited we traded had wonderful ventilated and heated seats. In fact this vehicle is the worst since ventilated seats became available.

Pretty useless ventilated seats in my mind. (Along with the heated steering wheel that doesn't heat all the way around!) ALL the other cars we have had with ventilated seats were much better. And we have had many.

Seriously considering trading in the '22 HL Platinum Hybrid. Not likely to buy another Toyota after having purchased many new Toyotas over the years (several Camrys, 2 were Hybrids)...(this is our 4th Highlander), and a few used Toyotas going back as far as the mid 1970s (1973 Celica). This one has definitely soured us on Toyotas.

I encourage you to share your purchase history and current disappointment w/ Toyota.

Just MAYBE they might take your dissatisfaction seriously for future models and improve what seems to be non-ventilating seats. And semi-heated steering wheels reported by others; isnitnthat hard Toy to have the top and bottom of the steering wheel encased w/ the heating element?

This is my first car with ventilated seats, and heated steering wheel. I like them.
The ventilated seats might not be great, but, I notice when they are on. More important my wife notices.
The unevenly heated steering wheel reminds me to keep my hands at 10 and 2 where they belong.
Honestly IMO is they made this care more luxurious they would have a hard time selling Lexus.

While I agree that there are some things/upgrades that should be unique to Lexus, I think that the full circle heated steering wheel is not one of them. This just smacks of cheapness. EVERY other brand vehicle I have owned/driven with a heated wheel has it full circle...including several vehicles in a lower price range/category. I 100% thought our heated wheel was not performing right when I first experienced this. I was totally dumbfounded.

The poorly ventilated seats are just an inferior design, in my mind. There is either too much foam in the way, or the fan motor is not powerful enough.

I believe that Toyota felt that they needed to add these features to stay competitive, yet didn't really want to, so they didn't develop them as they should have.

Toyota designed, developed and builds the best Hybrid systems. There are other brands close on their heels. They need to step up their game in other important areas or they will loose sales. They have already lost future sales from me.

This is my 18th Toyota. Of those, 3 were Highlanders. My dissatisfaction with the '22 is all on me. When I bought it, my wife and I were recovering from a very severe car accident. Add to that the extreme lack of availability of new cars at the time (Dec 2021) ....well...I used my previous satisfaction with Toyotas, and the fact that our 7 month old car had been totaled, and put a deposit on an incoming HiHy Platinum. 30 days later it arrived, just a day or 2 after I was able to drive again. We took a road test, and all seemed fine. Granted, we didn't test EVERYTHING.

With all this said, I am currently evaluating my options to replace the Highlander. I really have no need for the Highlander size vehicle, and I will not buy another Toyota (including Lexus). Lot of options. I will start another thread Evaluating my options posting my findings, and comparisons to the Highlander.
