I am definitely not impressed with the paint quality of the Camry. Besides the fact it scratches easily, I notice paint peeling off my front bumper. I didn't hit any curbs, ice banks and nor did the bumper contact anything. Photo attached, note a little ice on the car..

I didn't buy a Lexus but seriously, I've had to replace the transmission module (had the same jerky symptoms described in other V6 transmission threads), many rattles and gasoline fumes in the car, that shouldn't be.

Taking it to the dealer tomorrow but who knows, the quality just sucks. Argh..

It will be interesting to see what responses you get. Looks like the bumper cover was replaced and improperly prepared for paint, including the flexible additive used in painting plastic parts. Do they offer a pre painted replacement bumper cover?

Sorry to hear about your issues. That's very strange about the paint. Not normal. As far as the transmission, please keep me posted on what they do/tell you. Seems like us V6 owners got the short end of the stick as far as aftercare. Did they tell you when you phoned they'd replace the TCM? I wonder if THAT'S the fix we're after if there isn't a way to program the current one to "behave." Keep us posted, good luck!

Sorry about the lack of reply. I didn't know anyone had written back. Regarding the paint, a "case" has been open with Toyota and they'll let me know in a couple days if the paint will be covered under warranty. The dealer took photographs and acknowledged that the bumper was not damaged. It seems like the same process they've done in the past with my transmission and headlight switch.

It's just horrible the paint would come off in flakes like that. It looks like a Dodge Neon now..

The TCM issue took over four months to resolve. The dealer tried doing some kind of reprogramming and sent a field representative to examine the transmission. To be clear, I had an annoying hesitation issue and especially in heavy traffic, it'd lunge forward with heavier throttle applications. Afterwards, there was a bit of back and forth, they replaced the transmission fluid, checked the ECU, asked if I noticed issues between premium or regular fuel, etc. Eventually, they replaced the TCM/TCU

The car drives much smoother but there's still lag when accelerating from a slow turn or in stop and go traffic but at least, it is not dangerously unresponsive or jerky between gears.

That doesn't look factory to me. Looks like a car that was damaged before you bought it and poorly repaired. If Toyota denies warranty it will be because they believe it to be non-factory as well. But what do I know?

As an update, Toyota has decided to cover the peeling paint. My next steps are to bring the vehicle to a certified Toyota body repair shop and the dealer will initiate a repair order to repair the paint. Of note, the peeling is getting worse on the bumper but I'm glad it'll be addressed.

I'm experienced the exact same issue with my 2020 Camry AWD. Toyota is covering it under warranty also saying it was flawwed during manufacturing
