im trying to get my valve covers off but i dont want to pry too hard and damge the head or somthing. any one have things that they do to get theirs off?

Try hitting the sides of the cover lightly with a plastic mallet. A screwdriver gently used will not damage anything. Pry gently at different locations around the cover and normally sooner or later it pops loose.

two flat head screw drivers at the same time on opposite sides of the cover. pry at same time

The best way with the 4ag valve cover to come off is to take a screwdriver and pop it off through the cam cover side.

Rubber mallet works well too.
