Title says it all. Please post when you get your steering recall letter. Also, what was you experience with the repair at the dealer.

Thanks

Would they still accept an Avalon with 228,000 miles on the odonometer? I recently had to replace the ignition assembly since the peg that goes into the ignition switch broke off. Freaking costed me $240 for the assembly.

Just talked to dealer service department. Siad that recall had not been "released" yet; cannot do anything until that happens and I get the letter. Expects that to happen in next 1-2 weeks.

I'm the 3rd owner, so I don't expect a letter.

I went to the dealer 2 weeks ago. They acknowledged my car was part of the recall, but didn't yet have the parts to perform it. They put me on a list to be called.

They also discovered my car had not yet had a tether anchor recall done. Gotta get that done, since I have 2 carseats in my car.

Had AOH Recall Done

Second owner - have not gotten a letter. Made appointment Wed; took car in Fri AM; took about 1.5 hours. Overall a pretty good experience w dealership. i am going to try to use Toyota website to provide them my contact info so I can get notified of any future recalls and not have to rely on finding out about them here or thru the media.

Steering Recall

I was able to have the recalled steering part replaced today, 17 Sep. Fortunately the part was in stock at the dealer today. If the dealer does not have the part, my dealer in Md would want one to come in with the car and they would order the part based on one seeing the car and the recall letter and replace the steering part at a later date.

Toyota is asleep

I got my recall letter yesterday afternoon for replacement of the "Steering Column Upper Bracket". (I have a 2000 Avalon.) I called Manhattan Toyota service this morning for an appointment but the lady said that the notices had just gone out and it will be several weeks before Manhattan Toyota get the replacement parts. She suggested I call back in about 2 weeks. It is unacceptable that the parts have not yet been received, especially since the official Toyota Press Release was sent out almost 2 months ago on July 29, 2010.
