It is worth noting there are significant differences between the Prius and Camry transaxle. The Prius uses a chain drive, and the Camry is all gear drive. That is a very good thing as chains are not as reliable. Also at least from 2007 through 2011 the Camry uses two planetary gear reductions instead of the one used in the Prius. As a result MG2 runs about 2.5 times faster than the Prius (up to 14,000 rpm). There are conflicting reports about the 2012.
Green Congress reports that in 2012 the Camry went to a single planetary gear, and now MG2 runs to a max of about 4,500 rpm. That is a very significant change and there seems to be very little information about it, and whether or not it is even true.
