Highlander 2001 2.4 Liter:

Will do drain and fill on tranny. 3.5 Qts, T-IV.

Will drain and fill power steering fluid, what to use? Dexron III? Or T-IV?

Thanks in advance.

Tranny T-IV is the correct amount.

For teh P/S system use Dextron III or BETTER Dextron fluid.

T-IV/3309 isn't much different than Dexron III. Many dealers will use the T-IV in the power steering. I used Mobil 1 in both.

Assuming it's the same as my 04, 3.5 quarts seems right. I drain into a marked container and put back what I take.

Earlier Highlanders have a 4 speed transaxle, our '04 have a updated 5-speed transaxle. Ibelive they have diff. fluid capacity. Will be in the owners manual for sure.

All 4cylinder Highlanders right up until 2007 have a 4speed. Only the V6 has a 5speed.

I also want to clarify that the correct power steering fluid for the 2001 is Dexron III or equivalen, not T-IV. Maybe some put T-IV in without a problem, but to my knowledge that's not what the manual recommends.
