I have rust on my rear fenders and im going to bondo them up before i bring the car to get painted. What should i use to prepare the rusted area with before i put the bondo on? Should i sand as much of the rust off as i can, and if so what grit sand paper should i use? Also what type of rust stopper should i use to ensure the rust doesnt try to peak through the bondo, like it did on the last bondo job i did on the car?

you need to get rid of all the rust.if you bondo over rust the rust will still grow over time and crack your paint by pushing the bondo out. if you are taking the time to do it do it all.and if you finish the bondo work and are going to whate to paint it use a spray can primer to seal it rust can grow under the new bondo

sand the entire area down even behind the fender and add this stuff to it http://jcwhitney.1estore.com/moreinfo.php?item=12ZX4291X then paint it again with anti rust sandable primer then bondo it and make sure to spray behind the fender also but add protective coating to it like they use under the car and do the wheel wells also this will help protect your car further

Hi all... I've been floating awhile, and I finally decided I have to post something, as I know quite a bit about body work. I woulndn't use that on anything I planned on painting over as it is latex based. Maybe you have had good luck, but I would expect the whole area to die back about a week after the paint dries! Many people recommend por-15. I have had good luck with this stuff. http://www.napaonline.com/cgi-bin/n...t?prrfnbr=15622455&prmenbr=5806&usrcommgrpid=
