Found this on our local Craiglist this past week.

Carfax looked clean.

Looks pretty clean. Driver door looks like repainted. LE trim with power package and alloys. No digital dash or moonroof. I probably can't (shouldn't...) buy it because I got too much cars, but thought I'd share it here.

Here's some pictures. Saw the car today.

Pros
-Car body is immaculate. Paint is almost near perfect. NO obvious rust around the windows, doors, rear wheels, fenders, firewall, body panel seams, etc. Paint looks original except for driver door (see cons below). Windshield crowl panel is rust free and very clean.
-Car was detailed prior to posting online (private dealer)
-Interior is complete. No nasty stains or missing accessories. Auto down feature works for driver window. Headliner is mostly intact with one small (quarter) size bubble in the rear part. Very minimal fading, car appears to be garage kept. License plates show minimal/no fading
-Tires are recent according to seller. Either way, it has like new threads and feels soft to touch. Seller (private dealer) says he purchased new tires, but the tires don't seem new (see picture of passenger CV joint, shows tire). Tires were replaced two years ago from previous seller...hmmmmmmmm. I didn't get the date codes on the tires though :/
-Power antenna works
-All windows work fine
-Brakes are solid for the most part
-Steering is tight and power assist is appropriate when needed.
-Engine sounds healthy, no abnormal engine noises that I can tell
-Car has good acceleration for the most part (see cons)
-Shift points are proper and shifts fine
-No abnormal suspension noises
-Safety and registration updated in Oct 2016 good till 2017 ( about $320 in 'upkeep' cost)

Cons
-Both side CV boots are torn. Think somebody did that quick boot a while ago.
-Front passenger strut is leaking oil, suspension overall feels soft and original.
-There is an exhaust leak. Slightly loud but not obnoxious
-Engine has a slight ping when acceleration moderately on regular and hilly terrains.
-Valve cover is past due. Has some slight oil 'wetness' around the top valve cover going to to the rear part of the engine.
-Temperature gauge will consistently flicker on and off. It will jump to middle and then back off...stays off then starts randomly working.
-Fluids look like they could be change. They are light brown but no black or 'burned' fluid (good).
-Coolant looks like seen better days. It's a bit brown but no clumpy or shake like consistent
-Car was in a minor collision of some sort awhile ago. Driver door paint match is a tad off. Driver mirror is non-power, so they couldn't source a replacement power mirror.
-No maintenance records aside from writing on the strut tower (timing belt) and a last oil change receipt (back in 2013, 43K miles)
-AC not working. Not sure if it was converted properly but seller claims it was 'converted' (who knows if it was done right) to R134a and was working, but there is a leak by the adapter.

I'm probably not going to buy it because of space and money (don't have it to invest right now...and not my color), but how much would you offer? Seller is posted at $1900.

I think the asking price is pretty good there.
I think so too. But I am torn. I don't need another Camry (fudge, I got enough cars as is), but I don't think I'm going to find another low miles one like this ... ever. Maybe on eBay and spend a few grand shipping it haha!

The colour looks almost the same as this

I checked different paint code 861 vs 8D8. Love the colour. Maybe it's time to replace your gen1 seeing the rust issues you car has. I'd offer them $1000, maybe $1200 if you think offering a grand would insult them.

Not sure if I'd go that low. that might insult them but who knows. Maybe $1500 would be a decent lowest I could go without causing a ruckus.

Color is pretty nice. Very subtle. Interior is really nice honestly.

Yea...regardless if I buy this car or not, I think it might be time to part with my Gen1. It's pretty bad and it won't past safety this coming year (Feb 2017). The shop I used to go to 'cleaned up' and not sure if they are still there to get my safety check. It's missing a muffler (rusted off) and everything else is rusting away. Both rear windows won't go up and down without 'ghetto' method it since the window arms are all rusted away as well. Interior leaking from firewall, trunk and roof. It's a shame because the engine is running so great.

You know your car is old when the top roof trim falls apart when your driving

For my Cressida, I have one person that is interested but not sure if they will take care of the car if I sell it. Probably would let it go for $1.1K if anything, $1.2K with the FSM. I had initially bought the car in 2007 to fix it and drive it around because I loved the car and the design resembles the Toyota X platform (i.e. chaser, mark, . For me I lost interest because it's going to need a good amount of body work to make it look perfect like the 1986 Camry that the thread is on and I dunno if is because of that, but all the 'small' things my Cressida needs body work and some mechanical stuff is kind of a turn off. As much as I want to 'restore and drive' the Cressida, it's hard to do that because the amount of work it's going to need to look perfect. I know it won't be realistic for me to do so either. Working on the 1986 is also going to be a whole lot easier VS the I6 in the Cressida.

Picture below of my 1985 Camry and 1987 Cressida.

So i don't know what kind of coincident it is...still can't believe it honestly.

My neighbor (lives literally next door) bought the car and we didn't even know each other until we talked. I saw him outside getting out of the car when I was getting home. I seriously had to take a double take. He's a long time Toyota enthusiast too.

I mean I know we live on an island but what are the chances...???

I'll try get more pictures lol.
