Price for a Oil & Filter change at the Dealers

I get a coupon every month with my cable bill for an oil change at the Toyota dealer using a Toyota OEM filter & 5 qts oil $15.88. Sounds like a great deal to me. When I had my Land Cruiser I use to use these same coupons before they caught on and printed "up to 5qts" on the coupon. I know the LC Toyota filter ran close to $12.00 alone.
What does your local dealer charge for the oil/filter change?

$27.95.... good thing I do it myself.
I have always changed my own oil & still do it on my motorcycle but for that price I can't pass it up.:D
Walmart ~$20 (takes forever)

OC stealers ~$27 w/ free car wash (ok deal but avoid weekends)

Mobil gas station ~$27 (quickstyle)

Myself ~$13 (Id save myself about $15 but would have to deal with the clean up, mess, and taking the oil to auto for recycle)
I do it myself.

Toyota Filter - $3
5 quarts of Pennzoil Synthetic - $5

total: $8
Stay away from Walmart/Jiffylube type places! You never know what one of those flunkies is going to screw up. I had a friend that took his Honda in for an oil service. They "topped off" the rest of his fluids which he asked them NOT TO DO. 1 week later he spent several hundred dollars to replace the power steering pump. Why??????? They put on the wrong type fluid and the pump consumed itself. If you aren't going to do it yourself, use the dealer or a reputable mechanic. As with most things in life, you get what you pay for.

yep !!!! they said my truck was done ( not this one) and as i looked under i saw a big puddle of oil dripping out. i flagged it and someone came out and tightened the filter and said "good to go " and i said what about checking the oil as there is a good quart there. he did and was 1 1/2 quarts low and then had the balls to try and charge me for 1 1/2 quarts of oil !!!

what would have happened if i trusted them and drove off?

i called corporate hq and was told they are all independent and they have no responsibility for the work done !!!

about every month or two Kragen has Pennzoil Platium Synthetic for 99 cents after rebate
$49 for oil change, lube (doubt they actually check zerks), and tire rotation. Below is my rant I cut-and-pasted from my venting on another thread today:

I just took my truck for an oil change (free coupon for Toys for Tots donations). The dumb asses let the oil filter piss all over my engine compartment. I got the service manager out there and made them clean it out, to include taking my skid plate off to clean that pool of oil. 2.5 hours later I walked out of there. My wife asked why I didn't ask for some type of compensation. I told her I surely didn't want idiots who couldn't change oil to ever touch my truck again. Sorry for ranting on your thread, but it was a good opportunity to vent. :disappoin

W T F ???? $5 TOTAL for the oil? Where you buying it? Crap, I should probably have read on before posting.:naughty:

My dealer charges $30 and they'll lube the drivelines & tighten them.

(but I do it myself, $20 for a 5-qt jug of Mobil1 @ Walmart and the OEM filter at the dealer is $5.50)
39.99 in Calgary Alberta
I got my Tacoma at Country Hills in Calgary last year. Free oil changes for life of the truck.:D
I was gonna buy my truck at country hills and get the free oil changes but went with stampede instead cause they beat country hills price by 1800 bucks which should buy me a few oil changes:D
2 weeks ago when at the dealers where i purchased, my mechanic said he would be working on mine next, as soon as he finished his current job. he was doing failure analysis on a new tacoma that was just brought in from another garage. the motor was blown..they forgot to put oil in it after dropping the oil and filter.. he was laughing and said a new engine was appx 6500 bucks!!
I'm supposed to be getting free oil changes for life from my dealership. I was there early one morning and there was over a dozen other guys all waiting for their free oil changes. I just bought some synthetic and a filter and will be doing my own changes. At least with this truck, I can slide underneath.
My dealer charges 19.99 for a oil change and car wash. But i usually get "The Worx" $39.99 oil change tire rotation top off fluids tighten bolts. and lube chasis
Autozone

$25.99 @ Autozone right now:

5 qt. Castrol Syntec (they have 0W-30) and a Mobil1 filter.
Walmart experiences were fine

I think it all depends on which Walmart you go to. Took my 03 Taco there for about 2 years and they always done a good job. Used the Supertec house brand and it was fine cost about $20 for oil change/filter. Only problem was it took too damn long. Paid for lifetime balance/rotation on tires and did oil change there as well. I would try to be the first few in line about 8.30 am and pick up about noon.
NEVER EVER go to wal-mart, goodyear or any other aftermarket place. They get away with alot of shit that isnt even legal and management just lets it fly. IE (Regular air in tires when you pay for nitrogen(THEFT)) and using a socket. not a torque stick to tighten your lugnuts. (just lazy)
