Prius and Bluetooth

My friend just got a Toyota Prius and was letting me drive it. It was great to drive and I loved all the features it has, but when I asked her what it meant that it was Bluetooth enabled, she didn't know much about it except that it's some sort of technology that lets you answer your phone through the car. Is this right? It sounds really cool (and helpful) if it is. Can you do other stuff with Bluetooth and the Prius?

Bluetooth and the Prius/Land Cruiser

Bluetooth technology allows someone who owns a Land Cruiser or Prius equipped with the navigation system to connect their Bluetooth telephone to the sound system of the vehicle and use their phone "hands free", dial the phone with their voice, etc.

If you do not have a Bluetooth phone, you cannot take advantage of this option.
avalons have it too. Im not sure about Sienna's.
Your phone works through the stereo???
does it have to be plugged in?
Bluetooth does not require it to be plugged in but you have to have a bluetooth phone!
