I just looked through the latest Performance Products catalog and to my surprise it looks as though Pro Comp is now making a double cardin u-joint drive shaft for the 05+ Tacomas. It states that it is perfect upgrade for those that have their 6" lift. They go for $399.99. Anybody else seen or heard anything about this? I went to performanceproducts.com but it is still not on their web page and pro comp doesn't have anything on their web page either.

Better off getting a Tom Woods DS. Sure it may be more money, but they are proven in the field and you can order the exact length needed.

The add says a cv "Front" drive shaft. Tom wood's is for the rear. Unless I misread it.

Yeah, but at the bottom it has a PreRunner option. PreRunners don't have front driveshafts.

I'm pretty sure this is for a rear driveshaft.

When you do a suspension lift the front driveshaft doesn't change it's angle on an Independent Front Suspension. The transfer case is mounted to the frame, and the front diff is mounted to the frame.

BTW, if we do another group buy the price on a Tom Woods double cardan shaft is $360 plus free shipping. Plus I would bet that the TW shaft is beefier than the ProComp. JMO

BUT it would be nice if somebody would actually buy one of these ProComp shafts so that we could compare them.

Oh, yeah. I forgot about that. That means that ProComp has two different shafts for the Tacoma. I'd think that the 2wd shaft would be a little more expensive since it has to have a spline to fit into the transmission.

Somebody might want to call ProComp and verify that they actually make both a 4wd and 2wd shaft before ordering.

You did not misread it, it clearly says Front drive shaft. Tom Woods can make any type of drive-shaft, front or rear....TW for the win!

BTW - the ad is very misleading. Body of ad clearly states "front" while the 2 different styles are for 4x4/Pre-runner and FJ. As PB mentioned, no front drive shaft on a pre-runner and the rear shaft has a splined input and only a flang on one end. Pro-comp needs to do a better job of proofing their material.

If anybody is interested in a TW drive shaft for an Access Cab 4x4, I still have a brand-new sealed in box shaft sitting in the garage. I do not have any vibes after lift, so never installeld the DS.

Reading the article it might be for the front? They're claiming that you can now use the 4wd above 25 mph?

When you do a 6" lift the angle of the front drive shaft changes because you drop the front diff. This maybe what they are referring to?
