I did a search on bedliner's, spray in liners, bed protectant and nothing really came up.

I have all but made up my mind to replace my Frontier with a Tacoma and one concern is the composite bed. It will see two dirt bikes loaded, moving the occasional friend, and occasional trips to the dump. I might pick up a load of bark or two in the spring time as well. It is not a work truck so to speak, but I expect it to be able to work when needed, that is why I drive a truck.

Some recommend the rubber mat for the bed but other than that, do many people add an additional bedliner either spray on or drop in? I assume no or there would be a lot of threads on the topic.

Thanks.

i've used mine a lot. i have hauled 2-3 dirt bikes at a time with no issues (you will need to get extra d-rings though, don't use the adjustable plastic cleats. and i've used it to haul lots of gravel, dirt, debris, bricks, etc. on dozens of home repair projects. here's a what mine looks like: just a little scratched up, no biggie. it's held up well.

also, you can ad a spray-in liner. i've had a couple done for work. i just sent it to line-x. they do it like any other truck except i think it may cost a little more because they have to use an "adhesive promoter"
i don't really think it's necessary to get a bedliner though.

For what you are wanting to do you will have no problems with the composite bed. I have yet to hear or see anyone ever ruining or breaking a composite bed.

There was a guy on here that had his composite bed break after his toolbox was flying around while on some offroad camping trip. It cracked in one of the corners. That was about 6 months ago.

I've personally had no problems and I use my bed pretty extensively.

For what you described, the bed mat should be all that you would need. But as previously mentioned, verify that the tailgate is reinforced before you close the sale. If you're planning on loading bikes, you'll definitely want to make sure the tailgate is reinforced. There have been instances where the ones that weren't bent in the center under heavy loads.

The bed mat is a must to keep everyday things like bags and groceries from sliding around. No worries about denting or rusting. That's all an additional liner or Line-x would get you anyway and it's already covered.

Use your head. Tie things down like you would do in any truck. The composite bed is great but it's not indestructible.

I searched and found thread #1.

Thread #2 would need me to search for plastic bedliner. I didn't do that.

Thread #3 didn't show up in my searches. This was mentioned in my original post.

I have hauled a lot of crap in my bed. Two scoops of gravel, sod, carpet tiles, engine blocks, refrigerators, 25 steel wheels (going to the scrapyard) and countless trips to the dump, and I have barely scratched it. I don't even have a bed mat.

I ended up just putting in a rubber bed matt and its great along with a lund cargo bar.

When my truck was new I wanted to have the bed all pretty and shiney and when I cleaned it out, I "spritzed" it with armour all.
The bed mad was purchased right after that since the nice shiney bed became crazy SUPER slippery.. but it sure looked good!
( he -he- I wanted an excuse to get a bedmat and cargo bar anyway :)

I have a bedrug liner in my truck. It is amazing and durable, can hold all sorts of loads, and when its getting dirty, just power wash it. I also have a snugtop on, so for my dogs, its like a little apartment for them. it is super convenient for us.

also works out well for snow boarding trips.

just a nice set up over all, i would recommend taking a look into it.
