putting a 22re from 90 into an 87

i was wondering how difficult it would be to take out a blown 22re out an 87 pickup with a 5spd and replace with the 22re out of my 90 pickup with an automatic transmission

I did the simular job it helps big time if its nice out or if you have a heated garage..

Dont do it in the snow bank like me :)

Overall not to hard just take your time and why would you want a automatic?

Then again thats only my opinnion ..:cool:

Well there ya go then good choice, Now if you a had a 4speed then your really talking tuff lil tranny :)

Change the flywheel. Check the motor mounts..I think some are in the middle of the engine, some are near the front. some engines have both sets of mounting holes.
I've never seen a 22R or RE with different mounts, shouldn't be a problem.

You'll obviously have to replace the auto's flex plate with the manuals flywheel. And there's the pilot bearing for the clutch.
yep .. bolt right in . (with auto/manual differances ) as above ... just a "swap"
