So I recently bought an ebay intake for my 01 V6 Camry (yea i know im cheap:D). From what I have seen from the only v6 intake tutorial I found, there are 3 hoses that connect to the intake. Pictures of Injen and Weapon intakes show 3 hoses coming off it. All the ebay intakes I have seen for this car only have the 2 places to connect hoses. I have heard people having success with ebay intakes and I was wondering what the deal is with the missing 3rd hose spot. I would also like to know if there would be any problems associated with having only 2 spots for inserting a tube on the intake itself. CEL?

Thanks for any help

I bought an Injen Intake for my 1998 V6 Camry... This intake fits my Camry and fits the Solara as well...

I only connected one hose to the engine... As for the other 2, one is sealed and the other one has a breather (like a small air filter..)

I think those other 2 places for the hoses work on the Solara engine... My stock intake only had one connection to the engine...

Here are pics. of my engine...

NTL, i think u'll be fine.

Nice intake ptycamry. Just curious...is the heatshield on your 1mzfe headers standard? I seem to not recall seeing it on my camry, and was becoming suspicious of that. But no mechanic has ever said anything to me about it.

Mine says made in japan not the usa.

I forgot if it came with it or not. I was pretty young at the time when my family bought the car, but i dont remember seeing osmething there like taht for at least a few years. My friend was saying that it might melt the radiator...im not sure if thats true or not but it seems to be fine after all this time. Perhaps a mechanic forgot to put it back on...

Well I installed it with the help of a friend. Took maybe 30 minutes altogether cause we had no clue what we were doing. We just undid everything that we saw was attached to the stock airbox. There were 3 hoses connected to the stock airbox (2 big, 1 small). Only the 2 big ones fit the intake so I connected those and left the small hose hooked up to nothing. Car started up just fine with no CEL. Power wise it feels pretty much the same but the sound from the k&n filter is awesome.

Anyway was wondering if that small hose that I left unconnected is needed for anything, and where would I go about getting a 'breather' for it.

Thanks again

Well after driving for a few weeks without any noticeable problems I got a CEL. Ever since I put the intake on I noticed on a cold start, it fires right up, but if the engine is warmed already and I try to start it stutters a bit then fires up like normal. I have since reset the ecu to take off the light but I am wondering what is causing it. Currently, I have the 2 big hoses connected to the pipe, while the tiny hose (vacuum?) coming from the valve cover is blocked off and I am thinking that is the problem. Since there are only 2 nipples coming off the intake pipe and they are both used up already, what should I do?

I disconnectd the battery to clear the cel for now but I will take it there if it comes back on. As for the tutorial, I don't exactly remember where I found it but it was of a dragon intake with 3 nipples on the pipe while mine only has 2. I know there are many people on this forum that has an intake on their v6 so can please someone tell me what I have done wrong.

Thanks
