Can I safely use the alloy rim washer-style lug nuts with my winter steelies? Both sets of rims require the conical type nuts but I am not sure about the washer business for the steelies. Thanks.

Compare the lug nut area between your steel-rim compact spare and the standard steel rims. I'd bet they're the same, and the alloy style lug nuts work with the spare.
