When the engine is hot, on some cars, the radiator fan will continue to be ON even when the ignition is off, but for the Camry, the radiator fan will turn off once ignition is off regardless how hot the engine is. This is by design apparently, but does anyone know why?

Would you want to pop your hood with no key in the ignition and have the fans come on unexpectedly?

Besides for what JSM1284 said, I think the idea is that since the coolant is not being circulated through the engine and radiator once the engine is off, the effectiveness of the fan is pretty much nil. Car companies probably realized this pretty quickly and stopped allowing the fans to run after the engine is off.
