:chug:does anyone have this problem?
My radio in my 06 taco cant pick up any stations unless I'm right in town.
I live 100 km from the nearest radio station, this should not be a problem.
My 98 taco got good radio where I live.
I guess my question is, do all the radios in the 06's suck this bad?
or is ther a fix for this?

My reception in my '06 is fine, quality is just OK. Maybe you have an antenna problem. I used to repair Delco radios on the side and a symptom of a bad antenna wire was that you could get a few FM stations but no AM stations. I also saw a few bad boards that caused no reception at all. As a rule I would say that typical reception is pretty good.

Have to agree with HotRod on the reception comments. Unless your radio station recently switched antennas or another station is overriding it, sounds like you might have a reception issue with yours. I can get reception of FM stations a good 100 miles away (and I'm talking way up in the mountains from the source). Same reception as our highlander with the FM Diversity antenna.

When I got my '05 Taco, I could pick up the local stations and most of the ones on St. Thomas, 35 miles to the North. One day, I lost the stock antenna and ordered one of the "shorty (maybe 18)" ones. The local stations didn't change, but the St. Thomas stations are much more fuzzy now. It leads me to believe that the stock radios are marginal in their ability to pick up stations, especially far away. We only have one or two AM stations, and I would rather listen to road noise than them.

It amuses me to see Crutchfield ads that tout "30 pre-sets" FM and 30 pre-sets AM. That's about 50 stations more than we have total!

However, my FM broadcaster for my mp3 player works great, with no interference at all.

It's easy to pull out, make sure the antenna is plugged in, in the rear. I installed an ipod connector and when pulling the radio, anymore than right out of the dash the antenna cable was too short and pulled out. Maybe yours was pulled somehow.

Be careful with prying out the ac panel, the dash below scratches very easy. Just looking at it wrong and it's permanently gouged. I think I used a plastic wide putty knife covered in tape and it still nicked it, but it pops right out.

So I took out my radio and the antenna is connected properly, so I unplugged it and shoved some blasting wire in there and bam! nice clear radio.
Plugged back in the antenna and when I go to AM stations I get reception and when I unplug it from the radio nothing.
I havnt checked the connection at the fender yet as I dont have the right tool for that.
Any idea's?
