Ha. This year I live on campus and that means parking my baby outside 24/7...

Last week, I was under a tree, tree sap fell onto the rear windshield and front hood. I used ALL SORTS of cleaners.

Windex
Armor ALL window cleaner
Blue Magic Chrome Cleaner (takes out TONS of stains)
Tar remover (called sticker shock, removes adhesives)
Alcohol (took only a bit off, but forever it took)
Other misc. chemicals

All the above didn't work on my window. Hell no i did not used the chemicals on the paint.

Well, i dunno why, but I put little bit of RAIN-X on the sap and holly crappers, it came out in a jiffy!

Rainx is this shit that makes water bead off of your windows. Basically makes wipers unneeded.

Rain-X is 86% Ethanol, 4% rubbing alcohol, 1% sulfuric acid.
That's why it was descent at cleaning and smells like a cleaner.
It basically works by cleaning the glass, then when all the ethanol and alcohol has evaporated there is a thin film of silicon oil on the glass.

rain-x even helps remove nasty old bumper stickers and the crud it leaves behind. The stuff is amazing! ;) Almost as good as shampoo and conditioner in one! :p:

Kerosene works very well also.
It's been a stable of bug & tar removers for decades. Not so much in newer products. It's not as "enviornment friendly" as ethanol is...

WTF group of tree huggers decides the kerosene in bug & tar remover is harmful to the enviroment when it's replace with ethanol???

yes, they sell it in Canada. Go check out your local Crappy Tire.

There's also a bunch of other similar products: Rain-Away, Rain-B-gone...blah blah blah. They all do pretty much the same thing. The only thing different is the cost.
