I have a 97 camry with the 4 cyl. I am getting code p300 and p303 for a random misfire and misfire in cylinder 3. It started as an intermitent problem but last night became a constant misfire and made it a challenge to get home but I did. I think it is ignition related and am planning on changing the plugs and wires this morning.

Is there something else I should be looking at too??

Is it possible that 1/2 of a coil can go bad and cause only one cylinder to misfire?? Is it likely??

Thanks in advance

If the plugs and wires don't fix the problem, I would then look at the ignition coils. You may want to take note of the generation 4 Toyota factory service manual stickied at the top of the General Camry Forum. It's available for free downloading.

Good luck neighbor.

I have a 97 with 202k I just fixed tonight....

It was misfiring at a idle notably low very randomly and the car would catch itself and maintain idle.

I replaced a coil/plugs/fuel filter and cleaned the TB on the car with no result...

Tonight I REMOVED the TB and cleaned EVERYTHING / disassembled the IAC cleaned it / soaked the TPS with electronic cleaner and replaced the Temperature control sensor. Threw an engine code for the first time, i thought it was hilarious now that it's running right again the computer is acting like a little girl who didn't get her way. :D I'll post again if problems come back.
