is it possible to add an extra tube lower than the existing one and use this light bar to protect a truck from animals because i really like that bar and want to use it when i get my truck but wasn't sure if it was sturdy enough for animal resistance

THanks Paul

highly doubt it would protect you from an animal at a certain speed that animal is gona do some damage.
so what do you suggest that i get to prevent damage (besides the OR bumper)?
Yeah, that bar wouldn't do much in this case. Most light bars or "bull bars" will not provide ample protection against animals, collisions, etc. Since they are mounted low and only in one spot, that point acts as a pivot and the bar will just push up into your bumper. Believe me, I know. I would say brush guards are pretty much the same way. They are just bigger and heavier.

Nothing outside of an arb, all-pro, etc. with frame reinforcing is going to really help you in that department. Unfortunately, it's just the way the crumple zones/bumpers on these trucks are designed

I suggest you get a cannon and remove the animals from the road before you hit them.
alright, well i guess i'll just trust the insurance thanks guys

Especially if you are talking deer or any other kind of larger animal (boar, bear, sasquatch, etc.). No light bar or bull bar could hold up to something like that.
It's interesting how weak bull bars are because of where the name originated.
this is why I got the pro comp bar, even though it is not nearly as strong as the arb or allpro, it attached to the bumper assemblies at four points, and weighs a good 30#.
Fisher Plow.

;)
I have the ellis bar and like it a lot. It's considerably stronger than the westin bar, but it's still just built for holding the lights. Anything capable of smashing the tupperware will probably bend the bar's mounting points. Unlike a bumper, it's only bolted to the horns.
