Here is my (currently) compiled list of options I have chosen for the RAV 4:

Toyota RAV 4 Limited, 4x4, 5-Speed Automatic

* Alloy wheel locks
* Rear bumper applique (what is this, a bumper sticker?)
* Mudguard (never had this before)
* Cargo net (good for grocery shopping)
* Emergency assistance kit (does it compare to something similar/cheaper I
could buy elsewhere?)
* Carpet floor mats/cargo mat
* VIP RS3200+ security system (I thought this was standard, yet it's
optional)
* Remote start
* Exhaust tip by Valor
* JBL in-dash 6 CD changer w/nine speakers + sub woofer / hands-free
bluetooth phone access w/controls on steering wheel

Well, that's the list I have recently compiled.
I asked several others for their opinion, and the majority suggests: Classic
Silver Metallic

Any other features not listed on the Toyota web site that might be
available?

Thanks for any tips/suggestions!

I may be ready to purchase the last week of January.

I still like the tow prep package but its $160 and probably won't make a
whole lot of difference in New York. I live in No Calif. and it gets hot
here for some months with over 110 pretty common off & on. I might take
another look and a ride in one too Fish, especially if your experience if
good.

Good move if you fear theft.
> * Rear bumper applique (what is this, a bumper sticker?)

I believe that this is a little 'mat' that sticks on the top of the bumper
so you can step on it and not mar the bumper surface.
> * Mudguard (never had this before)

I am thinking that this keeps spray from collecting on the back of the
vehicle or at least mitigates it?
> * Cargo net (good for grocery shopping)

On our Prius we did not get this. We got some collapsible cloth covered
boxes from Home Depot for maybe $5 each. 4 fit nicely behind the rear
seat and can be stowed neatly. They are working out very well so far.

Dunno

Dealer ought to throw this in for free. Ours did.

I respectfully question why. Engine-wise the engine does not need to warm
up before movement. If you need to have the cab be warm, then that would
be the reason.

Are these in a package or are you getting these a la carte? I was forced
into package choices and needed to buy stuff that I did not want (like
that silly back up camera).

Well the moonroof looks nice and you can't get in the aftermarket.

Can't argue that one.
This is one of the only options I would order. The rest I would look for
aftermarket (or try to get the salesman to 'include' it "if you really
want to make the sale..."

Hachiroku ???? respectfully adds.......

Really? I hadn't considered it because it would create a wind-co-efficient
drag and not be as aerodynamic.

The style of the Prius is a perfect example of the perfect shape (ugly, but
perfect).

I find the shape of the RAV 4 to exhibit a very beautiful shape (personal
preference).

Hmmm.Unless you are driving with it open, bird droppings and flies could
enter your cabin, not to mention if it starts to rain.

> The rest I would look for aftermarket

I will check on that!

But some features, such as the remote start and the stereo with the built-in
bluetooth with the controls on the steering wheel are pretty good features.

Wow, how do you manage to pull that off?

I'd be interested in knowing some negotiating secrets. :)

I think the moonroof or convertibles are not really designed for
aerodynamics. .

I think the moonroof or convertibles are not really designed for
aerodynamics. .

Hence the lack of one on a Prius. (along w/its roofline)

Bah...look at the Scion tC. Looks good, and it's nice driving with it open..

You'd have a REAL lot of trouble with one of these, then!

http://binrock.net/photos/p/1454

But then again, I don't drive mine in the rain, and the one time I got
close to getting caught in rain, I got home 5 minutes before it started.

And, it's manual...open the trunk...get the roof...bolt it in place...

But, no bird droppings...yet...

And gas mileage? Driving one of these, who cares?!?!?! ;)

Do you have a bluetooth enabled phone? Or headset or something?
The controls in the wheel are ok. I have a Sony CD player that a stalk
type remote is available for...it mounts like an aftermarket cruise
control.

This is tough...if there are a LOT of RAV4s on the lot, you have some
leverage. I was always buying Corolla SR5s, the GTS, and I tried to get an
MR2...all high demand cars when they were new. No room to bargain. But I
*DID* talk them out of the ADMU (Additional Dealer Mark-Up) that's charged
when they have a high demand car on the lot.

Luckily, Scion doesn't play that way...

Yes, and I have yet to use this feature since upgrading the phone last year.

Ah...ok, then that makes sense.

The tC is the first car I haven't replaced the stereo in within 5 weeks...

Did the speakers, though! ;)
