Just went to get on list to buy a 2023 RAV4 and was told it will come with just one key. Reason given was chip shortage. A second key would not be available, even later as part of the car purchase.
RAV4 2nd KEY FOB. WHERE IS IT?
Purchased new RAV4 XLE in December, 2022 and only received 1 key fob. Was told be the dealer that the 2nd one would come in the mail directly from Toyota in 2-4 weeks. That didn't happen. Contacted Toyota and got a blanket response of chip shortage, etc... Should be later in 2nd quarter. Nothing yet. Now Toyota says late this summer. We'll see, but doubt it. If the same identical key fobs are available through the Parts Dept., then there can't be too much of a chip shortage or supply chain issue. Not a very good move Toyota. Take care of your repeat customers if you want them to remain repeat customers. Your vehicles are very good, not so much with your customer "service".

It's a chip shortage. They already said they aim to distribute the 2nd fob by summer 23.
Repeated customers that buy a car once maybe every few years, people have short memories and will forgive over time.

Just got our 2023 Rav4 Limited Hybrid 2 weeks ago that we had ordered in Aug of last year. Came with both Key Fobs... Sounds like someone lost yours and they keep passing the buck to someone else
I'm stealing this image from Rav4world so people see it instead of having to click a link. But Just because you got 2 FOBs 2 weeks ago, doesnt mean there wasnt a shortage 6 Months ago. There is still a shortage for other models (see type #3/#4 key types). Just not North America Rav4s. Im just saying if they keep saying oh keep checking back it sounds like they are passing the buck on down the line instead of actually figuring out what is going on.
