Anyone have either pics of a procedure for cleaning the intake system of a 1997 Rav4?

I would like to clean (replace) from the air filter to the intake manifold, cleaning the ISC, EGR, Throttle Body, etc.

Thanks.

As far as the throttle body goes, I'd go to Advanced or AZ and get about four bottles of Techron (with Techroline). It's made by Chevron. I believe it's the best fuel system cleaner. It's not cheap. The bottles usually are only good for 10 gallons. So I'd use two for a fill up. Then skip a fill up and then do two more on the next fill up.
Have you used cleaners such as this periodically? If you do then it shouldn't be too bad. If you don't, then I would start doing it. I don't usually use the expensive stuff because I run a bottle of fuel system cleaner through every six or eight weeks.

I'm new to the RAV4s so I don't know of any little 'quirks' that I should be aware of.....that said..

Since the Rav4 has approx. 80k and the intake system has never been cleaned I wanted to clean a few parts like the Throttle body, EGR etc. etc.

Wondering if anyone took these parts apart to preform a thorough cleaning, etc.

You need a spray can of Throttle Body Spray Cleaner, rags and a clean tooth brush. Disassemble, used the product on the movable throttle plate and surrounding area. Use rags to mop up the excess. It good to do it yearly.
