Rear bumper surface rust??

1315 Views 8 Replies 7 Participants Last post by  LaPerouseBay
I am getting quite a bit of surface rust on the area near my license plate on the rear bumper. My truck is less than 6 months old, and of all the 15+ vehicles I have owned I have never had this happen. The service advisor and manager said it is most likely "rail dust" from transport, and that I need to polish and wax the area to clean and prevent the problem. I think this is complete bs, and am wondering if anyone else is experiancing similar problems? Any suggestions on who to call, I believe my chrome didn't plate well and the rust is seeping from the pits that arent covered well? Thanks for the help and input. I would expect this from an older vehicle, not a brand new one.

And next time try searching before making a new thread
I did search, and didn't find a satisfactory answer! Thanks for being so polite, being a new user that sure makes a guy feel welcome! Do you have the same problem, if not your opinion isn't needed!
Why do you n00bz get all pissed when somebody says to use the search button. Its there for a reason.

guess they dont like to be told what to do
They should just forbid people from creating new posts and we can just search the forum like a old encyclopedia.

Brilliant idea.

Anyway, I'd have to see a picture of the rust. It could be rust sitting on top of the paint from metal contaminants off of the road. Do a clay job and see if that removes the rust.

Really dude? I thought I was being pretty civil. In any case I think your missing the point - what I'm trying to say is if you search and find a thread that discusses your issue, but doesn't answer your question completely, you can do us all a favor by posting in that thread instead of making a new one, which to this point is completely worthless.

Oh and welcome to TN :violin:

in my humble opinion, the search feature is a pain to use. i find it difficult to find answers to my questions. perhaps i'm not using it properly.

i have yet to start a thread, but i don't need to. i just wait for some other noob to start one. searching through old threads is time consuming, is full of useless information and has some incredibly astute comments. finding those pearls of wisdom is like finding a needle in a haystack.

if you experts are too lazy to create an FAQ, maybe you could have a sticky with instructions on how to effectively use the search feature. until then, i'll just wait for fellow noobs to keep starting posts.
