Hi,
when i was changing my lights in my gauges. I noticed that my car has a space in the gauge for a bulb that tells you whether your Rear Lights are out or not......so i put in the bulb, it lights up when i turn the key to on, and when i start it, it turns off....
nothing too wrong so far in my opinion ;)

so then i wanted to test it out....i pulled out one of my reverse light bulbs and put it in reverse, the bulb didnt light up ....
then i tried taking one of the brake lights out and putting my foot on the brake, nothing happened either.....

then i read in my manual in the wiring diagrams, that i need a Light Failure Sensor......i probably dont have that installed in my car, so would anyone know where it is located? and would it be a simple plug and play sort of thing?

thanks.

In the Gen 2 Camry's it's a small yellow box located in the trunk above the Left wheel. It might be located in a similar spot in the newer models.

It only lets you know if you've got a brake light/parking light out (same bulb)

[Stupid question but...] did you have the car running when you applied the brake to test the warnning light, it should be running.

You can prolly get a new sensor for cheap at NAPA or the like.

I'd just save time and call your local toyota dealer service dept and ask where its located.

yeah i checked to warning light, both when the car was off and when it was on. All i did was take out one of those Brake/Parking bulbs and put my foot on the brake. i did the same with a reverse light and the high mount stop light.....

i put the warning bulb in the gauge. it lights up when you stick the key in the ignition and put it in the 'on' position, as part of its system check thing :p:, but after you start the car, it turns off just like all the other warning lights.

ill call up Toyota next week and see what they can do for me ;)
