Rear noise

I have a 1989 pickup 4cyl 4 speed manual with 252,xxx miles
I have a whirling type noise during deceleration at anything over 40 mph when letting off the throttle.
Any ideas?
Should I try changing the rear diff oil?

Is my rear 7.5 or 8?
Rebuild? If so any parts I’ll need that don’t come in kits?
