i had to replace the rear upper strut mount on my 1991 as it was clunking on every bump...i had a hard time finding the clunk only because it was replaced in 2008 or so and i thought it was something else in the rear shelf,trunk,ect..anyway its fixed and all quiet again but i was wondering if these parts are repeat offenders??

They tend to wear out on these cars as they take the brunt of the strut travel. its just wear and tear on the mounting point
