Wow, what happened here??? The whole look is changed and stuff. Anyways, I been DD'ing the prizm, which is what they are meant for and pretty much just enjoyin every mile. I recently met a friend whose got hookups through his school for auto work (Paint jobs, mechanical stuff, bodywork, you name it). He said he could rebuild my engine and transmission. He's gonna do some bodywork for me and a fresh paint job for pretty cheap. My engine and tranny are prefectly fine, other than some synchro wear on a 165k transmission. I thought, why not get some ooph in it for lets say the next 100k miles lol. I need ideas. I was initially thinkin of doing a 4age swap but thats a lil outta my budget. The i would need to find a tranny to make the best use of that engine and the price is gonna just keep building up. I was thinkin some cams and stuff on my current 7afe. What else can you guys think of? Also what can I do to beef up my tranny? other than new synchros.

Here's a post where I discuss the options available for NA motor building: http://www.toyotanation.com/forum/showthread.php?t=360521

Note that you say you don't have 4AGE swap money but you want to buy cams which alone cost like $700, a full 4AGE with transmission costs about twice that and a full silvertop front clip can be had for around $1700: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/TOYO...ptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories

And for the tranny well you can certainly go with a stronger clutch...

Hey, thanks for the quick reply. See i am still kinda researching as to how expensive would getting simple things as cams, and such be. This front clip you posted, what exactly are front clips? Is it like the whole front part of the car? Ive heard the term before but never really fully understood it. Also have seen people go the 7age route, what do you think about that? How easy and expensive could that be? Ive really liked the silvertops just cause of those ITB's but gze motors could probably crank out more power if you want to in the future, compared to a silvertop

A front clip makes it easier by letting you swap everything out rather than having to keep this or that component or go out and find a compatible component. You can pretty much just transplant everything and the only part of the wiring harness that you have to worry about is whatever connects to your vehicle's lighting and other electronics. You can even do a right-hand-drive swap. Check out the pics in the eBay auction I linked to get a better idea.

I'm not a buff on the other stuff you're asking about. I've read about it but I have no opinion one way or the other. IMO people who make 7AGE's either already have an easy way to source the parts they need or they really just like to play.
