rebuilding head

879 Views 3 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  SmokingTires
I am in the process of rebuilding a 5sfe 94 camry head. It is at the shop being hot tanked and blasted. I will try to perform a port job myself, but my question to you fellows is what if any performance parts should i put on the head? Like valve springs, valves, i know about the cams. Or should i just leave the stock parts on it, since there are not in that bad of shape. Any ideas or help are welcome. thanks for your time.

well if you port and polish it then you would need new valves right??? i'm not too sure but even if you use all high end parts on that head you wount raise the red line very much so i guess the stock valve springs should still be good for this.
I wasn't thinking of making the valve openings bigger, but i don't know if there are better performance parts to replace stock with or not. thanks for the info

It's not about raising redline (which you could actually do easily by modding the valve train), it's more about having a better flowing head. A high redline doesn't help if you have a lower power band peak.

If you haven't ported heads before, I wouldn't suggest this be your first project. It seems simple, but there is an art to it.

As for parts, Shifgate Performance is coming out with some oversized valves. But besides that, stock springs and performance cams will be perfect for it.
