Hello,
I have a 2006 Highlander Hybrid and I have noticed (as recent as this week) a decrease in my Highlanders Fuel economy from around 27 to 28 MPG in the city/highway to 20 MPG. I reside in the city of Atlanta for a point of reference. I was wondering what is the first item to check and or verify to troubleshoot the rapid reduction in fuel economy. The battery indicators with the hybrid battery on the dash all check out fine for the time being it's just the fuel has decreased rapidly. I have 142,700 miles on the vehicle.

Did you disconnect the 12v battery? Has the ICE engine running longer? Tell us more about what have you done to it recently. Also you won't get much help here as it is regular highlander forum.

Yes, I disconnected the negative connector on the regular battery as I had the AVS Error message that I thought I could clear but wound up being a need for a replacement on the ABS Pump Anti Lock Break Assembly.
