i just bought a 08 limited 4x4 and the manual says use 87 or higher. it also says its normal for the engine to knock at times going up hill or a higher speeds, i did not like that. i dont mind using premium gas, but i know that in some cars using higher octane hurts the cars performance and throws off the fuel maps.

thanks

Have you heard knocking/pinging? When I tow in the mountains, I will put some premium fuel in my tank (keep in mind I have an Armada though). For just passengers, I use regular unleaded no matter the terrain.

no knock yet, but ANY type of knock is bad news in my book. i mean the 5.7 is a high tech motor, why even risk regular...i thought the armada/qx56 needed premium fuel, no?

Sorry I never got back to the question.....The Armada only requires regular, but I think the Infiniti suggests 91 octane.

I think your plan is good though. The Sequoia only requires regular too right? Just watch out for stations that sell 85 octane! ;)
