First time working on struts for me. I have the Haynes to assist me. What is the procedure for taking the strut out? Do I need a spring compressor for that part? I was thinking of replacing with Monroe Quick Strut. Any tips?

I used the Quick Struts on the rear of my 98. I was very happy with them and the results. You might need a compressor and an impact wrench to remove the 2 large bolts and nuts on the bottom of the each assembly. You will not need a spring compressor if you use the Monroe Quick Struts. If you do not use the Quick Struts, you will need a spring compressor. I would suggest spraying everything down with a good penetrating oil (PB Blaster or something like that; do not use WD-40) for a day or 2 before attempting this job. Then, drive the car around for a day or 2 so the penetrating oil will work it's way in.

There is a generation 4 manual stickied at the top of the General Camry Forum, available for free downloading. The suspension section will have the procedure.
