I keep on getting a PO500 code on my 2012 Camry. Its for the Vehicle Speed Sensor. When I reset it with my Scanner, it disappears for a day or two, and then comes back. Also it goes away at times when I disconnect the battery.
The VSS is located inside the Transmission above the Valve Body. I'm contemplating replacing it,
I'm wondering if anyone else has done this and what their feelings about this are?

A hint from Alldata. If speedometer display is normal then VSS is operating correctly.
Thank you. But I do notice the engine revs much differently when the check engine light is on.
That's why I'm concerned

Sorry giving you info from 2005 Camry.
Now see 2012 more complicated.

Try to verify the VSS/circuit integrity by measuring voltage/resistance before changing sensors.

Alldata or equivalent have wiring diagrams where you can find a point to measure sensor/circuit external to trans.

Question: Does speedometer work when P0500 sets?
