Hello, I have a question about the air intake housing. I realize this is Taco forum, but nothing is happening in the Tundra forum so I have to post here to try to get a response. I have an 06 Tundra XSP and I replaced the stock air filter for the K&N. My question is... The top housing cover that you remove to get to the air filter has a secondary mesh type filter built into the housing. Can you remove this secondary mesh filter or is it recommended to be left alone? I know I can remove it, but I think it might break if I try to pry it out. Im looking for advice if I should just leave the secondary filter alone or if it is truly unnecessary and may be removed without any problem. Thanks for the help!

I had to break all the rivets to get mine out. Its a carbon filter for unused fuel fumes that can come back out the intake.
