Hi there, first time posting here.
I purchased a used automatic transmission base model 2011 Toyota Venza (single owner, very good condition) 3 months (and 5k miles) ago. The car was owned by an elderly couple and I'm guessing the parking brake was never used.
I used the parking brake for the first time and upon releasing it heard clunking and the sound of bits and pieces coming loose.
When I drive the car, after 20-30 seconds theres a clunking sound and the car begins to shake and there is a repeated knocking noise coming from what sounds like the rear driver-side wheel. The knocking happens while the wheels are moving and it is not affected by whether or not I am applying normal brakes.

My questions are:
  1. what do you think is going on?
  2. and on what wheel is the parking brake foot located so I can inspect it?
  3. Any risks with inspecting it and things I should look out for avoid so as not to make the problem worse?
Thank you so much for taking the time to read this and providing any insights into the next steps I should take.
Cheers!

Take wheel off, pads off, calliper off, calliper holder off then take the rotor off and check behind the hub (that’s where the parking brake pads are, that’s the only way to tell what happened. most likely spring broke or something but you should get it fixed ASAP and not drive until fixed or else you will damage the hub.
