Hi, it's time to replace the rotors and brake pads on my 2001 gs300. Anyone recommendation on which brake pad and rotor to purchase. I've been checking Tirerack.com and I was thinking about the Hawk HPS Brakes and the Brembo plain rotors. I was confused the difference with ceramic and composite break pads. Can someone explain that to me. Thanks.

Hawk makes good pads, but OEM seems to have less issue with noise. Would suggest OEM. Make sure you reinstall all the shims, springs, etc to minimize the possible of squealing.
Brembo plain rotors would be a wise choice. The drilled and slotted are more expensive and can cause cracking issues, also not needed for street use.

I currently have the oem brake pads on. The pads and rotor still look like they have 80% life in them. For some reason when I step on the brake going at high speed I get a really rough feeling towards the front of the car. These pads was running good when installed but now i'm experiencing problems. I took the car to my mechanic and he said that I have metallic brakes and there have been issues with them. So..he recommend me to switch over to ceramic pads when the old pads wear. Do anyone think this sound correct.? Thanks.
When you say "rough feeling" , does it feel like your brake pedal is shaking a little bit?
If so, it may not be your pads, but your rotors. If the surface of the rotor is not even, it could cause this kind of problem. Best resolve is to make sure you resurface the rotors the next time you change out your pads.

When I step on the brakes it feels like metal to metal there is no shaking in the brake pedal.

I thought Lexus owners paid others to do their work on their cars. Toyota drivers have to do it their self. ( Lower socioeconomic strata ):lol: Just Kidding, Stick with factory, they make the best, unless it is an old beater car.

your rotors are warped. get them resurfaced
We have just replaced ourson our 300es £197.00 toyota direct main dealers
& with main delear parts, These were Windom , but good price !
