I have been thinking about Rhino Liner for the bed of my 07 Taco. But I was thinking of only getting the floor of the bed done. I know they make mats that slide in there. Elwinna has one in her truck and she said it is great. But as always I am looking at options. The reason i would only have the bottom sprayed is to make the floor "sticky" so stuff won’t slide around AND make it permanent. I guess i could have the whole thing sprayed. I haven't gotten a quote yet but just thinkin.

Any opinions or comments?

I like the mat. It offers a non-slip surface that REALLY keeps things from sliding around, but can be removed. I take it out when I haul dirt, mulch, or anything I want to easily slide out of the bed. It probably makes it easier to hose down too where the Rhino Lining might make it harder to get the dirt out.

I went with the mat as well. It really does keep things from sliding around. My concern with the spray on route was how the chemical would react with the plastic bed. Maybe not at all but a risk I was unwilling to explore. Not knowing exactly what polymer was used it did not seem like a smart choice.

^^ nothing to worry about there, we have one TN memeber whos line-x his bed for probably a year now and two guys using herculiner. I can't think of a possible reason for the bed to react with the bed liner. The bed is designed to withstand the elements as well as gasoline and other solvents. Hell if it was that easy to react stuff with the bed you know you would have heard it already, especially on TN, the home of the bitchers.

From what I've heard the polyurethane linings like Rhino and line-X don't adhere that well to the composite bed, and can peel. I heard on one occasion of a line-x dealer that tested and used a special primer that they put down first, it was suppose to improve adhesion. It may be worth looking into, see if Rhino has a similar treatment before spending the big bucks to have it lined.

I work with plastic molders on a daily basis. After seeing first hand what normal every day chemicals can do to various plastics I prefer to take the safe route. If you know the polymer and all the chemicals being applied and they are compatible go for it. Some time the polymer can get soft and appear to melt other times it may give no appearance reaction but become very brittle. Not saying that has happened but for my money the $40 rubber mat works great.

Ever see what a drop of Red or Blue Loc-Tite does to 30% glass filled nylon? Not pretty.

SILVER-BOLT: If you know of a place where I can buy a good quality mat for $40, I'd like to know where.:disappoin

With shipping it's a whopping $83.65 (long or short bed makes no difference------that makes no sense). :thumbdown You could probably Rhino the whole bed for $40. I see pros and cons on both but 30% over cost for shipping is a bit extreme. I'd like to find a place where I could just pick it up or where shipping is free.

Could probably get one at a dealership, but god only knows how much they'll rip you off for it...

What does it do?
Melts the plastic. Turns it into a soft sticky goo. My customer was using brass inserts ultrasonically welded into the plastic. Then a drop of Loc-Tite on to the mating screws. Well they had a problem with the inserts "falling out". Come to find out the polymer they had spec'd out was not compatible with the Loc-Tite chemicals. It ate the plasic around the insert.

My $40 mat was a guestimate. The $58 sounds about right. I bought it a year ago.
