Hey All,

Got my RK Sport Rear Spoiler yesterday (bought Mon. shipped Tues. and received Fri. CA>WA) and the overall quality of the piece is excellant.

I visted a body shop last week and they wanted to see it before giving me a firm quote.
He did mentioned with the Seattle area and the last storm we had and the one coming (few days ago) he's pretty booked with lots of fender benders.

So the plan is to bring it by him and another shop to get a quote next week. If I can install it myself then I will, but if not, I'll let them do it. (re: other post on how to install OEM spoiler)

Anyhow here's some pics...

BTW the box it came in couldn't fit in the back seat, door handles would hit the box and wouldn't let the door to close. I reclined the front seat and put it on the passenger front seat.

I will.... the plan is to take a bunch of angles with the OEM spoiler and then again with the RK Sport once painted and installed.

Brandon402 is correct... it's fiberglass for the spoiler and the RK Hood, the lip kit from them is Polyurethane though.

Over all quality is great. Smooth and all the lines look good. Also, there are no porous areas like other companies fiberglass spoilers.
i haven't been following the other thread too closely, but does this use the mount points from the OEM SE lip spoiler?

unless its just taped on........

One of my concerns was using the factory mounting points as I have an SE.

In the main thread the answer was.... and when I spoke to Frank at RK he said yes.

4) How is the Rear Spoiler installed, for example does it fit in the factory holes and specs?
The spoiler uses the factory holes to mount.

----

From looking at the factory spoiler install info., it looks like there are 6 bolts holes. When comparing them to my RK Sport one - it only has 5. The RK Sport spoiler has a bolt for the center of the spoiler, which differs from stock. From what I see it looks like I'll only be using the outer 2 bolt holes (so 4) which should match up to the stock locations. 4 mounting points will be fine along with addition double sided tape all around. So 2 of the factory mouting points will go unused. I'll probably get some rubber gromets and seal off the other 2 holes with something.

I guess I know for sure when we get the original spoiler off. Unless someone here has had the factory installed SE spoiler off there car to verify??? 6 or 5 (one in the center)? Then we'll see if the factory installs the spoiler with 6 mounting holes, the same as if you were to buy it after and get it installed. My guess is that my original spoiler has 6 but we'll see...

Took the spoiler by the body shop to get an estimate. Since I don't have time and it's cold out.... I'm getting them to install the E&G grille as well. So the total for everything is $295 with taxes. Grille we estimated it at 1.5 hrs labor, so for the spoiler alone it would have been $209.

With all the snow storms and icey roads the Seattle area has been getting, they won't be able to get me in until the 30th of this month.

Before then once I get the car clean, I'll take pics of the stock spoiler and then the after.

BTW when showing the spoiler to the body shop manager he mentioned it's looks really good and a lot better than the crap you see out there. So I knew right away the prep. work labor before painting would be minimal.
Im glad I Have a shop, Materials, and experience to do it myself for probly $50 tops in supplies.

Of course! ;) Or welll.. it is what it is.

Been through the whole mod game before... nothing like getting your car back with an extra 200 HP and another 300 ft/lbs of torque!

I hear ya....

If I was in Toronto.... it would be a fraction of the cost. I'd probably do the R+R myself and get a buddy who owns a body shop to do the work for a favor! ;)
Dropped off the spoiler to get painted today. Installation of the spoiler and the E&G grille happans next Tuesday.

While at the shop I saw them polishing/cleaning up a Maserati Quattroporte for delivery after being fixed. Also, in the Northwest they are the only Audi A8 authorized body shop. Lots of Porsches from the local dealer in the parking lot too.

Anyhow, I pulled along side the below car....... With all the bad weather we've had in the past couple months, if I could afford one, I definetly wouldn't be driving it around this time of year. But I guess the owner could afford many or just not smart, oh well! lol

Taken with my cell phone so forgive the quality.

OUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

For those that don't recognize what type a car it is.... it's a Ferrari F430.

You know I've heard alot of good thing about the RK Sport kits, did you know their hood is functional as a ram-air and the spoiler will give you 20 extra horsepower!!:bullshit2  :D

Kidding of course, looking forward to the installed pics.
