Just use an early 80s Wagoneer 44 and build it up. They are a good fit for the Taco, they have disk brakes, they have the correct lug pattern (6x5.5), and they can be found for about $100. Be sure to find one that does not have the vac disconecting 4wd. Use your money for gears, lockers, moly axle shafts, etc. 4:10s aren't going to cut it. I am running 4:88s in mine, at the very least you should look at 4.56 gears. The stock rear axle in the Taco is quite strong and you don't need to worry about changing it, unless of course you want D60s.

Yeah, i'm still new to the Tacoma area. Been a Jeep guy for years and came across that....every Jeep guys dream find. The lug pattern was the one thing that I thought would be a problem. But just the thought that you could buy fully locked D44's that could be swaped for about the same price as ARB's would be sweet. But I guess i'll just leave that for the Jeep area.

Thanks TcmaBoy
