Picked up my new 08 Highlander yesterday. It does not have the running lights option. I would like to add it. Looking for advice on going with a factory add on or trying to find aftermarket parts that would fit the the holes in the bumper. Any help/advice, experience or links would be appreciated.

You don't mean DRL's??

The Daytime Running Lights function comes on in Auto mode (low beam at half intensity) and you can turn them off with the DLR off setting on the headlight switch.

Its optional with the Light Control Package on the Base HL option packages and standard on the Sport and Limited

Unfortunately you didn't mention what model you have.

If you have a Base model without the DRL option I would think it would cost a bunch to add this feature after the fact

For clarification: I have the basic Highlander, not sport or limited. I want the lites to fit in the round holes below the main headlights. I checked the car sticker "exterior" listing and it is calling them blk fog lamp probably meaning blank fog lites.

I checked E-Bay item out. Looks like a inexpensive alternative to factory part.
If anyone has installed Blinglights in their Highlander, I would appreciate your experiences. Thanks for the tip.:)

Camry Light Question

Are these the lights you mean? They show these as common items on ebay for 07-08 Camry's. It would be a great help for this topic to get pictures of these installed and to know what mods are necessary if any to make them fit. I know for sure that the Inverter Cooler received air through the drivers side light vent on the Hybrid, so at least some cutting would be required to make this flow as well with these show below:

Camry fog lite questions

Can DENTER post any info/pixs in regards to using the 07/08 Camry fog lites in the 08 Highlander? Are the bezels direct replacement for the blank bezels on the 08 Highlander? Do the Camry brackets fit the Highlander on the back side or do you need to fab additional support like some other posts have done?

You can use the Camry lights but have to buy the HL bezel is around 28 e/a from a Toyota dealer they come painted with your HL color. I already installed the fog lights on my HL, I'm just waiting the bezels to arrive.

Denter: Did you use the Camry mounting brackets on the Highlander or fab your own?

I bought a set of Hella driving lights that I intend to mount on the nudge bar. I intend to put the on/off switch in the blank I have next to the "snow button" on the center counsel. Anyone have any suggestions on how to pop the blank out of the hole, or open the center counsel up to get inside? Thanks

I have never checked but, I can't imagine that PIAA doesn't make a a light that would fit. If I was inclined (and I'm not..lol) I would rather have a set of yellow fog lamps in there instead of these generally useless light bulbs that are OEM.

As for the blank. The couple in the dash I was able to pry out gently from the front with a small screwdriver. I could not reach the one closest to the door with my hand from behind, so I had no choice. Not sure how to take the console apart though.

Could anyone get exact measurements for the rear plastic lenses that are in the bumper, i.e. round, non-functional pieces of plastic. I am waiting on my 2009 to come in and want to start shopping for rear lights to augment the factory back up lights. Don't know if I should start looking for fog lights or pencil (thin beam) lights. Suggestions?

Hi Doc,

Search E-Bay...some guy on there sells red fog lamps to replace the red round reflectors your talking about in the rear facia. He probably also sells Fog or pencil beam lights as well for the application you're looking to do.

BTW...He sells them specifically for the new Highlander body style.
